Engineered floors combine the natural style of solid timber floors without the high price tag. The boards are factory finished and coated with multiple layers of very hardwearing coating, so once installed there is no need for onsite sanding and coating.
Engineered flooring is composed of two or more layers of plywood or high-density fibreboard and the top layer, which is real timber, is glued to the core. The increased stability of engineered timber is achieved by running each layer at a 90-degree angle to the layer above. This stability makes it well suited for installation over different types of subfloors and it is less prone to expansion and shrinking during wet and dry periods.
The top of engineered flooring is natural and subject to the natural colour variations within the species. Colour or tone variations are less apparent in some species than others but no two packs of flooring will be identical. This is part of the beauty of choosing a natural product, in that it is unique.
With a vast range of different timber species available, engineered timber flooring gives a genuine timber look to your floors, that are easy to maintain and mostly importantly, they are affordable.
