Solid and Raw

Real timber flooring can bring a natural warmth and character to your living space like no other type of floor. Built to last, solid timber floors are exactly what they say, 100% beautifully pure wood. As well as transforming your room visually, it is also environmentally friendly as timber flooring is a natural renewable resource and extremely hard wearing.

You can sand down and re-stain or re-coat solid timber floors multiple times over it’s life time, and because they’re so hard wearing they are suitable for even the busiest of rooms. If looked after correctly, they will give you a lifetime of pleasure.

With the correct coating for your circumstances and regular cleaning, your timber floor finish will last many years before you need to consider recoating. The cost of recoating a timber floor is far more affordable than replacing carpet which begins to look worn, in many cases after a few years.

When installing any timber floor, an expansion gap will be left around the perimeter of the room and the skirting boards will cover these. All installations over concrete slabs will require a plastic moisture vapour barrier to protect it from sub-floor moisture. Any rooms that are over 6 metres wide must have an intermediate expansion gap, and this is especially important in humid climates such as Queensland and Northern NSW.

Solid timber board widths over 85mm and up to 135mm can be secret nailed, and a full bed of adhesive is used in conjunction with this method. Board widths over 135mm are generally top nailed to accommodate increased movement.
